In this section you will find sampans. These versatile boats were used to ferry anything from arms and equipment to food and medical supplies. As the war progressed the US and Free World Forces soon realised that the waterways of Vietnam made good smuggling routes. This led to the US introducing the Brown Water Navy which then began to patrol and police the rivers and waterways. Civilians soon became use to the stop and search policy introduced by the US. This did not however put them off from smuggling goods along the rivers and waterways!
